Without accurate information about child sexual abuse (CSA), how it occurs, and the impact it has on victims, attorneys and advocates who work with victims simply cannot be as effective. Misconceptions about sexual abuse run rampant in the community but also throughout the professional arena. This workshop will assist professionals in better understanding CSA by exploring the dynamics of CSA as well as common myths and misconceptions that are used to discredit victims. Facilitators and barriers to disclosure of CSA will also be reviewed and discussed. This workshop integrates practical, front-line experience with peer-reviewed, professional research.
