This presentation is a review of both abusive and accidental burns in children as well as their medical mimics. Characteristics of all types of burns will be discussed, including fluid burns, burn times by fluid temperature, history taking, and investigation of burns. Common skin conditions, disease processes and accidents which mimic burns will be covered as well. The medical evaluation of suspected victims of abusive burns will be also be reviewed.
