This presentation will first provide an overview of the evidence in this famous murder case from 1996 and identify investigative issues. Then the presenter, an experienced former federal prosecutor who was not involved in the case, will describe the present and emerging high technology and digital evidence that would likely be present if the same crime happened in 2023. The presentation is intended to explore new ways to investigate and prosecute violent and sex crimes using a new functional approach to high technology and digital evidence. The presentation will discuss wearable fitness devices, smart IoT devices, smartphones, medical devices, and telematic evidence.
