Learning and using Digital Wisdom Framework should be the first step in digital media education to prepare users with a better experience and understanding of how to navigate online platforms and systems safely. Understanding how digital events impact social and emotional landscapes is essential to school, home and community environments. Before children are exposed to digital devices and all its nuances, we should provide them with the best practices, awareness, and wisdom to keep them safe and secure. Part one of this presentation will discuss the evolution of social media and how platforms utilize our data and human psychology to formulate our next move online. We will examine how emotional intelligence, sleep habits, addiction, and self-worth are shaped by technology and how synthetic media/deep fakes and confirmation bias feeds misinformation leading to barriers to truth and reality. In Part two attendees will learn how emotional exploitation recognition is key to being digitally wise. Providing these tools and resources is a key component while developing digital fitness is the goal to creating a positive digital culture to keep children safe.
