In this workshop attendees will learn about the potential impact of technology on the mental health/well-being of rural and marginalized youth, including how it both exacerbates and alleviates trauma. This understanding can inform efforts to provide support, resources and education on digital literacy, while also enhancing reporting received by law enforcement officers and /other entities.
Learning Objectives:
Examine the trauma and mental health challenges faced by rural and marginalized youth, considering factors like technology, poverty, isolation, discrimination, and limited access to resources
Evaluate the impact of technology on mental health of rural & marginalized youth. Tech can either worsen or alleviate trauma, e.g. cyberbullying vs. online support
Create opportunities to enhance the mental health of rural & marginalized youth by increasing access to resources, online support, and promoting digital literacy and safety
