MDT teams aim to provide bridges to justice and paths to recovery for child victims of abuse. In this workshop, the presenter will provide insight related to the maladaptive effects of trauma on the central nervous system as well as the exploration of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to facilitate recovery of the at-risk child. Provided in an entertaining format, participants will acquire a basic understanding of the sympathetic nervous system’s responses to trauma. The audience will obtain an appreciation for the role of respondent conditioning within the acquisition of PTSD. Lastly, the workshop will explore data-driven interventions utilized to restore healthy functioning and regulation of the at-risk child’s neurochemistry. All content within the workshop has been derived from the latest research findings within the field of developmental psychology.

Participants will recognize the importance of neuropsychological theory and research within the field of child development and child maltreatment
Attendees will gain an understanding of the maladaptive effects of chronic stress on the child's neurochemistry as a result of sexual abuse trauma
Participants will develop an understanding and interest in data-driven models shown to restore healthy neurological functioning following sexual abuse trauma
