This case study will explore the unimaginable death of a five-year old child at the hands of his mother's boyfriend. It will detail how she failed to protect him and allowed the abuse and ultimately his death to occur. Through an in-depth investigation, it was discovered that the child had been abused for months on end and had multiple traumatic brain injuries inflicted at different times. The study will also focus on the relationship between law enforcement, first responders, and the district attorney's office from the investigation to prosecution, and how working together will always have the stronger outcome. The case will also detail the prosecution and trial of both defendants.
