Child sexual abuse results in both immediate and long-term impacts on victims. Therapeutic treatment and supportive services are often relied on heavily in the immediate aftermath of the disclosure of abuse with the goal of mitigating negative long-term impacts. Too often, the resources are available in the immediate aftermath of disclosures; however, years and decades later victims are still struggling with the impacts of unresolved trauma. This workshop seeks to highlight the factors that are associated with positive outcomes for victims with an emphasis on what actions promote lasting post-traumatic growth. This workshop will focus on advocate-led services, trauma-focused therapeutic modalities, and community-based interventions.
