This workshop details the art and science of preparing for and conducting a cross examination of a suspect or lay defense witnesses in cases of child maltreatment. This presentation is specifically for prosecutors and child protection attorneys, but other MDT members may also gain a deeper understanding of cross examination practices by attending.
Learning Objectives:
Prosecutors will learn analyze a statement from a defendant or defense witness to determine areas for cross examination
Prosecutors will learn to use transitions sentences during cross examination to assist the trier of fact in understanding the points made
Prosecutors will learn to incorporate case themes into a cross examination
