This case of a trucker, a trafficked adult victim, and a ten-year-old tike illustrates the complexity of intimate partner violence impact in conjunction with recurrent adult and child sexual assaults. The difficulties of prosecution of crimes involving child and adult sexual assault during interstate travel and a child witness to severe intimate partner violence (IPV) will be dissected. Attendees will learn that complex cases require significant attention to detail, a multidisciplinary approach and preferably interagency coordination. A discussion of best practices will be reviewed for children who must testify after being traumatized by IPV. Courtroom modifications for child sexual assault testimony will be presented and support for child survivors when an acquittal result will be addressed.
