Keeping children safe online is a core concern for any trust and safety team. It requires a constant flow of research into novel abuses, predator tactics, platform loopholes, and CSAM distribution methods. In this presentation, Dr. Avi Jager, Head of Child Safety and Human Exploitation research at ActiveFence, will discuss the core trends to monitor in CSAM and child abuse in 2023. He will present findings by his team of researchers, who closely monitor hidden predator chatter across the clear and dark web to detect rising trends and abuse tactics and identify their on-platform manifestations. He will share insights about abuses ranging from organized, scaled sextortion of minors to forms of child abuse during the current war in Ukraine. He will discuss the importance of non-graphic CSAM, and present case studies that demonstrate these issues in both the real world and online. Participants will learn how to design effective models enabling CSAM detection at scale. Join Avi and learn how to use qualitative, novel research to help detect and stop the online abuse of children in 2023.
Learning Objectives:
Insights into the surprising motivations, aside of pedophilic tendencies, that drive users to distribute CSAM
Learning about the tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) users who distribute CSAM employ to circumvent detection
Learning about practical knowledge and tools on how to design effective models enabling CSAM detection at scale
