Child abuse investigators, prosecutors, and those working with child victims experience innumerable traumas throughout their careers. These traumas are both toxic and cumulative - they can injure the brain and cause post-traumatic stress, depression, burnout, ineffective or unprofessional service, sleep and anxiety disorders, and other crippling psychological and emotional distress. This presentation describes the nature of our specific work traumas and their corrosive effects. It provides five specific evidence-based wellness and resilience strategies to recover from trauma, strengthen resilience, and improve over-all fitness in mind, body, emotions, and spirit. It describes one of the most powerful and effective ways to heal from even the most severe traumas and post-traumatic stress - EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, which the presenter has experienced.) Attendees will learn where to find a EMDR certified trauma professional in their local area.
