The presenters will share their first-hand experiences resulting from their childhood victimization and the process of helping solve the twenty-seven-year-old abduction and murder of eleven-year-old Jacob Wetterling. They will underscore the importance of advocacy for abuse victims from the perspective of adult male survivors, including the perspective of a therapist versed in working with trauma victims.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the case, the short and long term effects of the crimes, and the impact and effects resulting the case remaining unsolved for decades
  • Describe the communities, crimes and suspects and discuss the cold-case review that ultimately led to resolution
  • Identify issues and opportunities to bring about positive change in serving victims/survivors
