A large percentage of the world’s population subscribes to a type of religion, including most child sex offenders. Yet, many in the field of mental health, social services, and spiritual care are not prepared to address the significant spiritual injury that survivors of child sexual abuse often face. This workshop illustrates survivor stories impacted by spiritual injury and prepares attendees to recognize and respond to the spiritual impact of abuse through research findings. Moreover, participants will examine the most common warning signs and effects of spiritual injury, discover methods to address the various types of spiritual injury, and explore areas for improvement with MDT’s and the faith community.
