Assistant United States Attorney United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Ohio
The twists and turns in this multi-state investigation demonstrate the power of collaboration between the Federal and local law enforcement agencies. What started out as a simple CSAM distribution case quickly turned into a hands-on abuse case with a registered sex offender as the perpetrator of the four children of his girlfriend. Through persistence and review of thousands of media files, and with assistance provided by NCMEC, metadata identified an additional hands-on offender, who was identified as a sergeant with a police agency several states away, who had victimized his own two children. Attendees will learn best practices when working with NCMEC and how they can assist in your investigation. The presenters will also share forensic cell phone extraction techniques that will decrease review time in hands-on related cases.
