This session will provide a deeper understanding of collaboration, corroboration, and communication through a multi-disciplinary (MDT) approach. Through the perspective of a prosecutor and a social worker, this session will enhance the attendee's understanding of what a CSEC/sex trafficking investigation entails and how to ensure person-centered and trauma-informed approaches to working with victims. This session will bridge the gap between victims and MDTs by providing insight into working relationships between social workers and law enforcement, and what to expect when navigating through the investigation from first interactions through the completion of the court case. MDT members encountering victims during all stages of the process will benefit from the presenters' discussion of the legal system and how to incorporate best practices as it relates to their role to better serve victims. Presenters will prepare attendees for the benefits of utilizing an MDT approach to interviews and investigations, will learn tools techniques for victim interactions, and gain a behind-the-scenes look at the legal system for successful outcomes.
