Why is it so hard to prevent sex trafficking? Why don’t they just leave the life? The answer requires a deep understanding of the vulnerabilities traffickers exploit, and how to work to overcome those vulnerabilities. Research has shown that diverse social networks are crucial to healthy development, and have a positive relationship with abuse prevention. This session will explore the overlapping vulnerabilities that increase youth risk of attracting traffickers. We will also examine the effect of supportive relationships in building youth overall resilience. The session is designed for anyone who wants to make a difference in the lives of children/youth who are at risk of abuse or exploitation.
